Where is AK Expressions based?

We are based in Mendlesham which is between Ipswich and Norwich, but we travel all over the UK.

What experience do you have?

I started practising photography as a hobby at the age of eight, working on darkroom skills and film camera techniques before moving onto modern cameras.

As a teenager, I taught photography to children over three summers at summer camp. After that, I studied photography at school, which lead me to create a permanent exhibit at the Toronto Science Centre at the age of 17.

Since then, my camera has become an extension of my arm! Over the past couple of decades, I have photographed hundreds of happy couples at weddings across the UK, edited countless photographs, and shaved my huge beard approximately zero times (yup, it’s here to stay!).

How would you describe your photography style?

Artsy, creative, moody, documentary.

Can I provide you with a moodboard?

As I prefer to create a unique experience catered to your personality and venue, I do not accept moodboards.

What kind of equipment do you use?

At AK Expressions, we use the latest photography gear to give you the best possible results.

Can I share your photos on social media?

Please do! We love when our clients share our work and are proud of their wedding photos… so, tag away!

How many photos will I receive?

We offer a minimum of 250 images per full day wedding. However, we average 350 to 450.

That said, we prefer quality over quantity, and therefore we never use presets or outsource our editing.

How long will I have to wait for my photos?

We are proud to say that we never rush our work. You have spent months, or even years, planning your wedding to make it perfect - why would you want us to rush your photos?

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we’re fully covered.

Do you offer discounts for out of season or weekday weddings?

We hope that our clients are looking for quality - not discounts! We work equally as hard during weekdays as we do on weekends, and I am now learning that there is no typical ‘wedding season’, as we are busy all year round. These days, there are almost as many couples marrying during autumn and winter as there are in spring and summer.

what’s your favourite gin?

This is a very hard question to answer as I love most gins! However, many of my clients have gone one step further and hunted for that one-off gin which is not available on the shelves at your local supermarket (and I am eternally grateful).

Do you accept gin as payment?

Always.

How much do you charge?

We provide bespoke quotes for many clients, as each one has different needs. We do have a price list and packages, but I have a rule that if you love my work, you would take that extra time to first have a chat with me on the phone so that I can work out the best pricing and package we have to offer.

When is the full balance due?

We take a booking fee when the contract is signed and the remaining balance is due a month before the wedding. Many clients have made payments throughout the year to lighten the load closer to the wedding. We also take credit cards if this is a better option for you.
